Everwise: AI Literacy Curriculum
Everwise is a first-of-its-kind AI literacy curriculum for secondary students, delivered through a custom platform with video lessons. I built it with my co-founder at Evergreen Education.

My white whale. Think “Michelin Stars for public schools.” I used to write thousands of lines of R by hand, now I can update the dashboard within 15 minutes of the CDE’s yearly data drop thanks to AI!
Evergreen Education’s AI Literacy Model is one of the most popular AI literacy frameworks on the market, downloaded tens of thousands of times by schools and districts across the globe.
There hasn’t been a week in the past five years when I wasn’t coding some automation or improvement for California public schools. Too many custom dev projects to count, but my favorite is probably this super-simple DIBELS tool for elementary teachers.
I co-organized the then-largest AI-for-K-12 conference in North America, featuring speakers from Google, Teach for America, Khan Academy, and SXSW.
The success of the event led to the development of a set of AI literacy competencies and the creation of a year-long AI Academy, which guides districts across the United States through an improvement science approach to AI integration.
I’ve presented at educational conferences across the country, including ISTE, FETC, CALIE (formerly CUE), CSBA’s AEC, CAGcon, and SequoiaCon.
Working with the Director of Policy and Plans for the Pentagon’s Defense Suicide Prevention Office, I built a series of data dashboards in Tableau to help communicate a sense of meaningful progress within crisis workers and volunteers at a suicide prevention call center. I then recorded the process for building the dashboards so their team could take over ownership going forward.
Six months after delivering the dashboards, the organization secured a contract as an overflow provider for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline—more than doubling their monthly call volume.
Hemet Unified School District’s executive cabinet needed its key performance, safety, and engagement indicators at a glance during leadership meetings. Instead of hand-designing each infographic, I built a template system: an Excel-to-InDesign data merge that generates every layout from a single spreadsheet.
One data source produced 5 layouts, printed as (4) 36×54 posters, (48) 11×17 place mats, and (12) data flip books. When new figures come in, the color-coded circles and trend arrows update with a re-merge, not a redesign.
When COVID-19 hit, it forced school closures across the nation. While Hemet’s TOSAs worked to create distance learning packets, I built a custom website to house the packets and online resources.
Before summer break, the site had garnered over 18,000 unique visitors, including repeat visitors from 46 states in search of resources for their own districts.
I occasionally perform consultative work in the areas of digital marketing strategy and web development. This $600MM Houston-based oilfield company was punched in the gut when the price-per-barrel nosedived in early 2020. I beat the next-lowest bid by 37% and helped them pivot to a digital-first marketing strategy, earning a 3000% ROI within the first 3 months of the project.
I also helped train their team to own the marketing process. Shortly after handing off the project, they increased their ad spend and forecasted a paid search run rate of $1.7 million per month.
This Colorado agriculture company wanted to become “Amazon for farmers.” I pointed out that farmers probably use the real Amazon, and—probably more helpfully—improved the product pages for the seeds they were trying to sell online.
This was a rare four-party collaboration between (i) the nation’s leading dental services provider, (ii) Gloo, then a fast-growing tech startup, (iii) Arizona State University’s Center for Games and Impact, and (iv) yours truly.
I helped ASU and Gloo secure a $1.2MM contract by designing the UI/UX for an app that gamifies dentist training, articulating the marketing strategy, building a pitch deck—and delivering the pitch myself.
California Association for the Gifted (CAG) contacted me in early 2020 for some we-need-to-take-everything-online-because-of-COVID help. I led a digital transformation project that culminated in a refresh of their website and an integrated membership portal, which CAG used to host its first-ever virtual conference (the site has since cleared $1MM in online sales).
The success of CAG’s transformation was noticed by other state-level gifted associations, and I was soon contracted by the Ohio Association for Gifted Children (OAGC) and Supporting the Emotional Needs of Gifted Children (SENG) to do the same.
